Rows of Caribbean trumpet trees located in an urban area in Ha Dong District, Hanoi have come into full bloom, attracting droves of local residents looking to capture stunning photos.

Caribbean trumpet tree is the common English name for Tabebuia aurea, a plant species native to South America, according to Wikipedia.

It is also known as the silver trumpet tree and tree of gold.

Caribbean trump trees are popular ornamental trees in subtropical and tropical regions, grown for their spectacular yellow flower display on leafless shoots at the end of the dry season.

In Hanoi, these plants are grown along a street in the ParkCity urban area, some 13 kilometers southwestern of the city center.

Now, as the trees come into full bloom, local residents of all ages are flocking to check out the flowers, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, and snap photos for social media.

“I checked the weather forecast and it showed mild sunshine and cool weather for today, so I brought my child and sisters here for pictures,” said Quynh Huong, a resident of Hanoi’s Ha Dong District.

“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s been a long time since the whole family had an opportunity like this.”

Huong and other women in her family donned ao dai, a traditional Vietnamese long gown, and booked a private photographer for their visit.

“This kind of flower has existed here for a long time, but it has never attracted a crowd as large as the one this year,” said Nguyen Thu Ha, a young woman living near the ParkCity urban area.

“I used to see this kind of flower during my daily commute, but I didn’t realize they stretched along the entire road,” said Nguyen Dung, who took her children to check out the trees.

“I happened to know this flower street through a club of Hanoi-based bicycle lovers, so this afternoon I decided to stop by and found it very beautiful,” said Tran Van Luot, a cyclist who just added the ParkCity urban area to his daily 60-kilometer route.
